Biggest mistake

By Our Special Correspondent

MUMBAI, MARCH 19. Though Mr. V. P. Singh, on becoming the Prime Minister sacked nine Governors, he later expressed regret by ``saying that it was his biggest mistake'', Dr. P. C. Alexander, Maharashtra Governor, said here today.

At that time, Dr. Alexander was the Tamil Nadu Governor and was one of the nine who were asked in a two-line letter from the Rashtrapati Bhavan that Governors were being changed and would he send in his resignation?

Later, during a visit to the Raj Bhavan here by Mr. Singh, Dr. Alexander broached the subject and Mr. Singh expressed the regret.
