Plot to kill Paritala, others unearthed

By Our Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR, MARCH 19. The Anantapur district police have unearthed a conspiracy to liquidate two important leaders of the ruling Telugu Desam Party in Rayalaseema, including the Penukonda legislator, Mr. Paritala Ravindra. The police have revealed that the plot is allegedly masterminded by Maddelacheruvu Suryanarayana Reddy alias Soori, who is undergoing life imprisonment in the Jubilee Hills car bomb blast case, also aimed at Paritala.

The police have also allegedly found the role of Mr. Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader, Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, in the plot to eliminate the Pulivendula Agriculture Market Committee chairman, Mr. Parthasarathi Reddy of the TDP, who is the main accused in the murder case of Y.S. Raja Reddy, father of Dr. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Five persons allegedly involved in the conspiracy were arrested by the police on Monday. They were four members of the CPI(ML) Red Star, a pseudo-naxalite group, and a close associate of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, Mangali Danthuluri Krishna (27) of Pulivendula town. Besides, an improvised explosive device (suitcase bomb) made with central locking car door remote system, arms and ammunition were seized by the police.

Disclosing details to presspersons here on Monday, the Superintendent of Police, Mrs. Anjana Sinha, said the major outcome of the investigation of the case was exposure of an unholy nexus between different political and factional groups with criminal and pseudo naxalite groups.

She stated that they had chanced upon the conspiracy case while investigating the cases of extortion by the Red Star in Anantapur town. She stated that the suitcase bomb was fabricated in Hyderabad at the behest of Soori, now lodged in a central jail in Hyderabad. The explosive device was first aimed at one Qasim, a close associate of Mr. Paritala Ravindra in Dharmavaram. However, he was killed in a shootout by the Red Star group. Later, the suitcase bomb was targeted at Mr. Parthasarathi Reddy in Cuddapah town. But when that plan, too, failed, it was directed at Mr. Paritala Ravindra. The latter had escaped the plot by not attending a scheduled programme in his constituency in the recent months.

The SP stated that the accused in the case had revealed that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy had paid Rs. 1.25 lakhs to Soori through Danthuluri Krishna and one Raja Reddy of Dharmavaram, as part of a deal. The deal was that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy would help Soori come out of jail, if the latter had helped the former in eliminating Parthasarathi Reddy.
