Nayanar's book released

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 19. The CPI(M) general secretary, Mr. Harkishen Singh Surjeet, today questioned the rationale behind instituting a judicial inquiry into the Tehelka defence pay-off scandal when the ruling coalition had indirectly admitted its guilt through the resignation of the Defence Minister and other key defence officials.

Releasing the book "Jinna-Vajpayee-Ore Mugham", authored by the Chief Minister, Mr. E. K. Nayanar, Mr. Surjeet said that none of the RSS-BJP leaders who wear their patriotism on the sleeve had participated in the country's struggle for independence.

He said the RSS-BJP was now posing a threat to the unity and integrity of India by stoking majority communalism.

He said the so-called secularism of the BJP was a guise to push the right wing Hindu nationalism propounded by the RSS and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

He said Mr. Nayanar's book exposed the dangers posed by majority and minority communalism to the secular and democratic polity of the country. He said Nayanar's work was a political treatise on the dangers posed by fascism to humanity and civil society at large.

The CPI (M) Central Committee member, Mr. M. A. Baby, welcomed the gathering.
