11 MLAs suspended from Assembly

PANAJI, MARCH 19. Amidst slogan shouting by the Opposition members from the well of the House, the Goa Legislative Assembly today suspended nine Congress and two Goa People's Congress legislators till March 21, as they stalled the proceedings on the first day of the budget session, demanding a discussion on the Tehelka tapes on alleged shady deals and the deteriorating law and order situation in the State.

As the members raised slogans from the well of the House and pressed for a discussion, the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar, moved a resolution for suspension of nine Congress and two Goa People's Congress legislators till March 21 for ``obstructing the proceedings.''
