Raining blessings

ISLAMABAD, MARCH 20. The Taliban leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, has said the smashing of two Buddha statues in Afghanistan pleased Allah who as a result sent rains to the drought-hit country, reports said today.

Widespread rains broke a four-year drought in Afghanistan last week while the Taliban was destroying the Bamiyan Buddhas.

``We broke the idols and Allah sent us rains'', the reclusive Taliban leader was quoted as saying.
