Studded to conquer
DIAMONDS ARE girls' best friends and they are forever too. It is
not without reason these tiny shiny ones costing a bomb are
gifted to the most important woman in a man's life evoking the
commitment of an everlasting relationship. Obsession for gold has
always been a sort of tradition and when diamonds are added, the
combination is awesome, in terms of design and style.
In association with the `Diamond Trading Corporation', London,
Kirtilal Kalidas, a city-based manufacturer, retailer and
exporter of diamond studded and plain gold jewellery, presented
an exhibition of `Diamonds are forever award winning collection-
2001' and World Gold Council's `Swarnanjali award winning
jewellery'. The occasion was the inauguration of their new
showroom in Begumpet.
Little diamonds shimmered and the gold embossed around them
glowed as the local models from the stable of Imran Khan's
academy swaggered onto the stage. Exquisite pieces of the diamond
bridal jewellery like the hips, bangles, bracelets, rings,
necklaces, ear studs, drops, et al, came out sparkling.
The jewellery pieces had not just one or two diamonds but
hundreds and thousands of them on a single item. A white floral
designed necklace had 3,000 diamonds and Niagara necklace had
more than 2,000 diamonds. As many as 14,000 different categories
of diamond jewellery were available in variable prices with the
designs being a mix of the traditional and modern styles. Of
course, the prices are what diamonds cost, running into lakhs.
Some of the diamond studded jewellery pieces presented in the
exhibition were sourced from the national design diamond
jewellery contest held recently. The collection would be on
display at the mew showroom till March 31.
