Parliament, not streets
Sir, - Judging from the raging language she used in Bangalore,
the Congress president, Ms. Sonia Gandhi, seems to be in an
unholy hurry to dislodge a duly-elected Government, just because
in her judgment as Leader of the Opposition, the Government has
committed a heinous crime against the nation. She seems prepared
to take the Tehelka revelations to the streets - which will prove
to be merely a dead-end, helping in no way except perhaps to
incite vandalism.
Under the circumstances, the just and right course will be to let
Parliament decide.
N. Thanu,
Chennai

Sir, - Will a judicial inquiry into the defence scam serve any
purpose? How many inquiries are languishing in judicial
wilderness? Dissolving Parliament and holding elections is not
the remedy. The other side is not green either. If at all any
effective inquiry has to take place and its recommendations
implemented, the thrust should be on the extermination of
corruption and safeguard of all our defence secrets.
Dr. U. S. Iyer,
Bangalore
