A chance to catch the Perfect 10

CHENNAI, MARCH 20. It was an astonishing day at the Ferozeshah Kotla. A feared leg-spinner kept his date with history and India scored a famous victory over an old rival.

Yes, we are talking about Anil Kumble's stunning 10- wicket haul during the Pakistan second innings in the Delhi Test of '99, enabling India to score a sensational victory.

The Karnataka leg-spinner had become only the second bowler to achieve the feat after England's Jim Laker.

The fans now have a chance to possess a rare piece of cricketing history with the launch of the `Perfect 10' memorabilia, at a city hotel here on Monday, a celebration of Kumble's extraordinary spell on February 7.

Kumble's analysis read 10 for 74 and there will be 1074 copies of a framed picture encapsuling Kumble and India's golden moment, containing smaller photos of the 10 dismissals with the scorecard in between.

All of them have been autographed by Kumble, and come with a certificate of authenticity. A part of the proceeds from the sale will go to the Gujarat Relief Fund. Deutsche Bank, Private Banking, presented the function, organised by Anil Kumble Sports Promotion Ltd.

Mr. A.C. Muthiah, president, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), received the first copy on behalf of the Board.

Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly and ace batsman Sachin Tendulkar, along with several other teammates were present. Some of the former Indian stars too graced the occasion.

Ganguly lauded Kumble's contribution to Indian cricket, while Tendulkar remembered the day of the 10-wicket haul. On his part, Kumble thanked his teammates for their support over the years.

Mr. V.R. Rao, Head-Private Banking India, Deutsche Bank AG was present at the function, and so were Kumble's family members.
