Assembly revokes uspension of MLAs
PANAJI, MARCH 20. The Goa Legislative Assembly today revoked the
suspension of 11 Opposition members, including the Leader of the
Opposition, Mr. Luizinho Faleiro, and the Goa People's Congress
Party (GPCP) chief, Mr. Francisco Sardinha, who were suspended
for obstructing the functioning of the House yesterday.
The suspensions were revoked after a motion to that effect was
moved by the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar, when the
Nationalist Congress Party chief, Dr. Wilfred Desouza, intervened
on behalf of the suspended members. The motion was adopted by the
House and the members then participated in House proceedings.
The eleven members --nine belonging to Congress and two from
GPCP, were suspended for three days yesterday, for obstructing
the functioning of the House after Mr.Parrikar moved a resolution
naming them.
