Chances of tie-up with Trinamool dim, says PM
NEW DELHI, MARCH 25. The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari
Vajpayee, today said chances of a BJP-Trinamool Congress alliance
for the coming polls to the West Bengal Assembly appeared
``dim''.
``Uske sambhavna to bahut mushkil hai (its possibility is dim),''
Mr. Vajpayee told reporters at the conclusion of BJP's national
executive here.
Party sources said the mood at the meeting, where the State unit
had given a report, was in favour of a ``one to one fight with
the Left, if there is a possibility''. They, however, stressed
that the Trinamool would have to clarify its stand vis-a-vis its
relationship with the NDA Government at the Centre. The BJP
wanted the Trinamool to replace some of the ``difficult seats''
out of the 39 constituencies allotted to it by the latter, the
sources said.
