President to undergo surgery

NEW DELHI, MARCH 28. The President, Mr. K. R. Narayanan, was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here this evening for surgery to remove gall bladder stones. The operation is slated for Thursday.

Mr. Narayanan will be operated upon by a team of doctors led by the head of the Minimal Access Surgery Department, Dr. Pradeep Chowbey. According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique, the President will not receive any visitors in the hospital as per medical advice.

Mr. Narayanan has been indisposed since last Friday following which all his appointments had been cancelled.
