MTC services disrupted
By Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, MARCH 31. MTC bus services were disrupted for about two
hours on 100 Feet Road this morning from 6 a.m. when a section of
the crew resorted to a flash strike protesting the assault of one
of their colleagues near MMDA Colony bus stop.
Normalcy was restored on the intervention of senior police and
MTC officials who persuaded the drivers to give up the stir.
Eleven persons have been arrested in this connection. The
windscreen of a bus was damaged in the incident.
According to police, a group was enraged that the driver of an
Avadi bound MTC bus from Tambaram did not stop at a bus-stop. The
group waited and on its return journey intercepted the bus and
attacked the driver. They also broke the windscreens of the bus.
As news spread about the incident, the crew of other MTC buses
abandoned their vehicles along the road demanding action against
the culprits.
All those arrested were remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
