For children it means doing away with their books and bulky bags and talking to everthing that was 'banned' till then. But what about the plight of the parents ? It is to help them and lessen their 'burden' and keep children 'occupied' that several summer camps are to be held across the city.

Take for instance, Jest Riot (Ph: 8218150, 8204715, 8279761), an event management company. Its 'Project X' is designed to initiate children into creative arts and crafts such as batik, tie and dye, candle making, photography and dance. While the first camp, on from April 16 to 30, is to be held at the Karnataka Sangha, T. Nagar, the second will be at Vepery from May 2 to 15.

Meanwhile, Thapasiya School of Arts (AE - 113, 10th main road, Anna Nagar, Ph: 6205371), is planning to teach kids how to make greeting cards, collages, paintings, origami, calligraphy, soap carving and clay modelling. For more details, contact the school.

For connoisseurs of pottery, there's a camp on from April 16 to 30 at Studio Pottery, 15, 4 th Main Road, Gandhi Nagar, Adyar.
