Jayalalitha to contest from two places
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, APRIL 14. The AIADMK general secretary, Ms. Jayalalitha,
who is fighting the possibility of electoral disqualification,
today announced that she is contesting from two constituencies in
the coming Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
Ms. Jayalalitha chose Andipatti in Theni district, which was
represented earlier by her party mentor, MGR, and Krishnagiri in
Dharmapuri district, another AIADMK stronghold, to file her
nomination.
This ends speculation that she might not enter the electoral fray
to avoid any adverse political impact of a possible
disqualification.
This is not the first time that Ms. Jayalalitha is seeking
election from two constituencies.
In 1991, she contested from Kangeyam and Bargur winning from both
places.
In 1996, she lost election from Bargur, the only seat she
contested from.
