5 of family killed in J&K

SRINAGAR, APRIL 14. In stepped-up violence, 21 people, including five members of a family, seven militants and two securitymen were killed and 14 injured in Jammu and Kashmir since last night, official sources said.

Militants massacred five members of a family, including three children, after storming the house of one Ghulam Hussain in Somali-Balhoi area of Mahore tehsil. Hussain, his wife, Shamima Akhtar, and his three children, aged between five and two, were killed by militants who fled the spot.

Three Lashkar-e-Taiba militants and a junior commissioned officer (JCO) were killed and three Armymen and two civilians were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces at Binner village in Baramulla district of north Kashmir today.
