NCP sees plot behind Nadapuram violence
By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 14. The State NCP president, Mr.
Ramachandran Kadannappally, has alleged that the outbreak of
violence in Nadapuram was the result of a conspiracy involving
the Congress and the Muslim League aimed at breaching maintenance
of law and order.
In a statement here today, Mr. Kadannappally ridiculed the Leader
of the Opposition, Mr. A. K. Antony's request to the Centre to
deploy the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and para-military forces in
the State and said the violence in Nadapuram would end if he was
ready to ask his partymen to observe restraint. The Opposition
leader, in fact, owed an explanation to the people on the violent
deeds of his supporters, he added.
The NCP leader said the attacks in Nadapuram during the last few
days were unprovoked. Several houses were looted and gutted and
women attacked without any provocation. The arrest of Congress
and Muslim League leaders proved that the violence was engineered
by them. The police, he pointed out, had also recovered arms and
explosives from the homes of Muslim League and Congress leaders
in the area.
