RM. Veerappan to contest from Alandur

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, APRIL 14. The former Minister and MGR Kazhagam president, Mr. RM. Veerappan, will be the party's candidate for the Alandur constituency in the elections. With the DMK, which is leading the NDA combine in Tamil Nadu allotting two seats to the MGR Kazhagam, the office- bearers have decided to field Mr. Veerappan himself so that the party can be strengthened. ``Of course, we are talking to the DMK leadership for securing one or two more seats'', Mr. Veerappan told presspersons on Saturday.

The other constituency set apart for the party is Nattarampallai, where the former MLA, Mr. T. Anbazhagan, is to be fielded. Mr. Anbazhagan was the AIADMK MLA in 1977, 1980 and 1984. Last time around, contesting as Independent, he came a close second in the same constituency.
