The week ahead
SATURN will enter Gemini on Friday and remain in the Sign of the
Twins until June 4, 2003. The next two years will be dedicated to
learning about the correct use of communications - spoken,
written and electronic - for all people. You will learn more
about how you communicate - or don't communicate - with each
other. Expect to discover ways in which to improve your self-
expression, your ability to listen, and to express your
intentions. On a global scale,
miscommunications between government leaders and nations will be
revealed. Deeper levels of truth will be uncovered. Many
questions will be raised about the nature of truth.

QUERIES ANSWERED
As the Sun and the Moon in the same sign indicate New Moon, and
the two in the seventh sign from each other indicate Full Moon,
is there a short-cut indication for Asthangadha Dosham of planets
close to the Sun?
G. Muthukrishnan, Tiruchi.
When New Moon (Amavasya) occurs on May 22, the Moon will not come
into conjunction with the Sun until 5.57 p.m. on that day. The
New Moon phase continues upto 8-16 p.m. on May 23. Even after it
has passed, and Prathamai has begun, the Moon will be conjunct
with the Sun upto 9.48 p.m. on May 24. Thus the conjunction of
the Moon with the Sun can start from a day before Amavasya. It
can extend to a day after. Asthangadha Dosha, caused by planets
getting into close proximity with the Sun, should not be
ascertained by "quick glance" approaches. The placements must be
reckoned by looking at the Nakshatra Padas of the placements, or
even better, by reckoning the proximity in terms of degrees and
minutes of the arc.
