Privilege move to be dropped
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, APRIL 16. A privilege notice given by two Congress(I)
MLAs from Medak district against AP Transco officials for
allegedly humiliating them will be withdrawn following a public
apology tendered by the latter.
Mr. P. Kista Reddy and Mr. Mohd. Fareeduddin, who represent
Narayankhed and Zaheerabad constituencies respectively, had given
the notice against the top brass of AP Transco in Medak district
for their failure to attend the inauguration of a 33/11 KV sub-
station at Mettalkunta village at Nelpally mandal on April 11.
The MLAs alleged that the officials had boycotted the function at
the instance of the former TDP MLA, Mr. Vijaypal Reddy, and the
Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Karanam Ramachander Rao. After
waiting for four hours, the Narayankhed MLA inaugurated the sub-
station and left.
At a press conference here on Monday, Mr. P. Atchi Reddy,
Superintending Engineer (Operations), Mr. C. Ramachander, DE,
Sangareddy, Mr. K. Narsimulu, Additional DE, and Mr. D. Rajaiah,
Asst. Engineer, Adnoor, expressed regrets for the incident, and
said that they would avoid repetition of such actions in future.
They attributed the episode to a communication gap with the
Congress MLAs. The function had been postponed because the
Managing Director of the Power Distribution Corporation, Mr.
Gandhi, had to attend court in connection with a contempt case.
The ADE was asked to inform the MLAs about the postponement but,
apparently, the message did not reach them.
