China invites Jairam Ramesh to symposium

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, APRIL 18. The secretary of the economic cell of the Congress, Mr. Jairam Ramesh, has been invited by the Chinese Government to participate in a symposium to help China prepare for accession to the WTO.

The symposium has been organised by the WTO, the German Government and the National People's Congress of China and is being held in Beijing from April 23 to 26.

China is expected to join the WTO later this year after almost four years of intensive negotiations. The Chinese Government is keen on drawing upon India's experience in this organisation and thus decided to invite experts.
