Palette to please

SUMMER IS synonymous with colour. As the trees burst into myriad hues, it is time to restore vibrancy to the wardrobe. In a mood to celebrate colour, Ffolio, Khader Nawaz Khan Road, Nungambakkam, presents Niki Mahajan's "An Indian Summer" from today.

True to her theme, Niki's line of salwar suits is about colour. Parrot greens and canary yellows.... they jolt you from that obsessive black-grey-white haze. That's not all. The prints are very ethnic, and the fabrics caressing and airy. As for the styling, they are traditional...but remember that's a contemporary note in fashion. The straight lines ensure that you needn't necessarily be lissom to wear a Niki. The creations in crepe, silk cotton and pure cotton are priced Rs. 3000 upwards.

For those who love clothes that love the body, there is Onkara's (Upasana Gulati) "Romantics". The Indo-Westerns in lycra-knits are just right for sophisticated sylphs who opt for contoured clothes. The embellishments are subtle - laces, sequins, ribbons etc. Priced Rs. 5,000 upwards, Onkara's clothes come in a refreshing palette of lilac, rose, sea green and white.

Lalit Jalan's ethnic line for men, Christina's simple and elegant salwars in free-flowing fabrics, Scheraz's pretty cotton, chiffon and georgette creations and Priya Avasty's chic Indo-Westerns are part of Ffolio's range this season.

For those who swear by white, there are Avadh's immaculate salwars in traditional styles and exquisite craftsmanship. Kimono's salwar suits make a dressy statement in chiffon and georgette...all embellished with finesse.

If you are shopping for experimental, well constructed Western wear, then Ffolio Made In Italy is the answer here. The separates -- trousers in varied styles (Rs.1,200 upwards), sleek skirts (Rs.1,500 onwards) and trendy tops (above Rs. 900), come in comfortable fabrics. The colours are haute - mauve, plum, wine, raisin and chocolate, and the styles, yes...they preach proportions.
