BALCO: Jogi hopeful
By Our Staff Correspondent
RAIPUR, APRIL 18. The State Chief Minister, Mr. Ajit Jogi, today
said that a solution to the Bharat Aluminium Company Limited
(BALCO) imbroglio was possible within the parameters set by the
Chhatisgarh Government. He said though his Government was not a
party to the controversy and they had nothing at stake but we,
too, want the deadlock to end.
Mr. Jogi said his Government's stand on the matter was clear and
had been defined earlier. It was now for the Centre to take the
initiative. ``However, my sympathies will always be with the
workers because they are fighting for a good cause,'' he said.
The Chief Minister said he had already told the workers that they
would need to have lots of patience if they wanted to succeed
because it was a long drawn battle. Denying that there was any
kind of pressure on him from the Congress president, Ms Sonia
Gandhi, to end the strike, Mr. Jogi said the outcome of the
talkshave shown the kind of pressure there was on him.
