DMK banking on bogus votes: Ramadoss

By Our Staff Reporter

VELLORE, APRIL 21. The DMK was banking on bogus votes in the Assembly elections as could be seen from the ``failure'' of the Tamil Nadu Government to issue electors' photo identity cards to all eligible voters, according to Dr.S.Ramadoss, PMK leader.

Speaking at Katpadi canvassing support for the party candidate, Mr.A.K. Natarajan in the Katpadi constituency, Dr. Ramadoss described the DMK-led front as a ``poojya koottani'' (zero alliance), while the AIADMK-led secular democratic front was ``vetrikkoottani''.

Dr. Ramadoss said the five-year DMK rule was marked by all-round gloom in all fields including agriculture, trade and the handloom sector, with no money circulation among the people. While traders complained that their business had declined, the farmers were reeling under a serious debt burden. Several mills had been closed and the handloom weavers were in penury.

Speaking at Thiruvalam and Latteri, the PMK leader accused the PWD minister, Mr. Durai Murugan, and the DMK candidate for Katpadi, of having amassed wealth by dubious means.

He asked the people not to believe the ``tall statements'' that the latter made about his achievements in the constituency.
