By Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, APRIL 21.
Metrowater has posted two senior officials to oversee the
progress of Chennai City Rivers Conservation Project (CCRCP).
The two officials, who hold the rank of Chief Engineer, come
under the guidance of the officiating Engineering Director (E.D),
according to an internal circular issued early this week.
The Chief Engineer (Construction), Mr S. Kirupanidhi, has been
made in charge of establishment of additional sewage treatment
plants (STPs), besides improvement works and maintenance of the
existing STPs.
The Superintending Engineer (Central), Mr. V. Sivakumaran, has
been entrusted with interception and diversion works of the
CCRCP, in addition to his present responsibilities.
The present E.D., Mr R. N. Suryanarayana Singh, is also
responsible for the execution of sewerage schemes, consultancy
works, and scrutiny of designs of all the new STP projects and
the proposed Chembarampakkam water treatment plant.
Of a total of 23 components of the CCRCP, 13 have been awarded to
executing agencies while tenders are being evaluated for six
components. In respect of two, bids have been floated.
While the tender is to be called for one, re-tendering is to be
done for another.
