Castrol net declines

The net profit of Castrol India has declined by 46 per cent to Rs. 24.40 crores in the first quarter ended March 31, 2001 from Rs. 45.07 crores in the same period in 2000. Net sales were higher at Rs. 303.28 crores against Rs. 280.65 crores.

Other income also was lower at Rs. 11.67 crores against Rs. 3.48 crores The company has stated that the performance must be viewed in the context of the lubes market which in the year 2000, shrank by about 10 per cent.

SBCH

SmithKline Beecham Consumer Healthcare (SBCH) has registered a growth of 24.7 per cent in net sales at Rs. 215.23 crores against Rs. 172.64 crores. The profit, before amortisation charges and taxation, rose by 39.5 per cent to Rs. 43.20 crores from Rs. 30.97 crores.

The profit before tax was Rs. 40.77 crores, an increase of 33 per cent and the profit after tax Rs. 28.54 crores, an increase of 28.2 per cent.

HCL Infosystems

HCL Infosystems has recorded a turnover of Rs. 336.20 crores in third quarter ended March 31, 2001 against Rs. 318.20 crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The profit after tax is Rs. 18.20 crores against Rs. 16.20 crores.

The total revenue has registered a growth of 14 per cent at Rs. 916.40 crores against Rs. 803.60 crores. Consolidated services revenues increased 49 per cent to Rs. 218 crores from Rs. 146.30 crores.
