ULFA, NDFB plan to disrupt polls
Guwahati, April 22. (PTI): The banned ULFA and the National
Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) will make all efforts to
disrupt the forthcoming May 10 Assembly polls by indulging in
violence, a senior Army official said today.
"There are reports that both the ULFA and NDFB have joined hands
to launch joint operations in certain pockets of the State during
the elections", Major-General A S Jamwal of the 21 Mountain
Division told reporters.
He said Bongaigaon and some areas of Kokrajhar and Barpeta
districts were very sensitive and all possible efforts would be
made to beef up security arrangements in view of the militant
threat in the areas.
Jamwal said insurgency in Assam had been contained to a large
extent and all efforts were being made to restore total peace.
