Third front looking forward to LDF victory
By Our Staff Reporter
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 22. The recently constituted Third
Front to fight against the Congress and the BJP was looking
forward to the LDF victory in the forthcoming assembly elections
in Kerala, according to the CPI(M) Politburo member, Mr. Sitaram
Yechuri.
Speaking at a campaign meeting of the LDF candidate in
Thiruvananthapuram North Assembly constituency, Mr. M.
Vijayakumar, at Peroorkada junction today, Mr. Yechuri said the
country was also looking forward for the victory of the LDF in
Kerala.
The UDF has sought support from the BJP and the PDP at the same
time to come to power in the State. The UDF has joined hands with
Hindu communalists and Muslim fanatics to ensure that the LDF did
not return to power in the State, he added.
The CPI(M) Politburo member alleged that the BJP, which was
extending support to the Congress in the forthcoming Assembly
elections, is playing hide and seek at the Centre.
Mr. Yechuri said the BJP and the Congress were not ready to
discuss the issues concerning the people at the Parliament. The
Railway Budget was passed in the Lok Sabha for the first time
without any discussion, he added.
The Mayor, Mrs. J. Chandra, presided over the function. The
CPI(M) candidate, Mr. Vijayakumar and the CPI leader, Mr.
Kaniyapuram Ramachandran, were among those who attended.
Later, Mr. Yechuri addressed election meetings at Kattakada,
Balaramapuram and Poovar for the election meetings. Photo on Page
