Fire destroys oil godown

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, MAY 4. An oil godown at Musheerabad was completely destroyed in a major fire on Friday. However, no one was injured.

The fire broke out at 6.45 a.m. in the godown which stocked refined oil tins. The fire raged on for best part of the day. Fire tenders from Musheerabad, Gowliguda, Moula-Ali, Secretariat and Moghalpura fire stations were immediately rushed to put out the fire.

Godown shed and walls collapsed under impact of the fire and the fire personnel had a tough time bringing the flames under control. The cause of the mishap was not immediately known.

HCL clarification

Our Special Correspondent writes: The Hindustan Cables Ltd clarified that no property was damaged in the fire mishap in its premises on Thursday. An HCL press release on Friday said there was a `wild vegetation fire' which was extinguished immediately and that there was no loss to property.
