Magisterial inquiry into Dibrugarh killing

Dibrugarh, May 4. The Dibrugarh District Magistrate has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the killing of BJP candidate for the Dibrugarh Assembly seat, Jayanta Dutta, and five others on May 1.

The inquiry would be conducted by Additional District Magistrate T C Goswami to ascertain the facts and circumstances under which unidentified gunmen shot dead Dutta and two other party workers at Sonaripatty of Dibrugarh town.

Goswami would also probe the killing of an AGP worker and a police constable at Chowkidingee and submit his report within a month.

Election has been countermanded in the constituency as Dutta belonged to a national party.
