Mamata betrayed NDA, says Sushma
Howrah, May 4. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma
Swaraj today said Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee's
leaving the NDA and joining hands with the Congress was an act of
"betrayal."
Banerjee left the NDA without even having the courtesy of
informing the leadership of her decision, Swaraj alleged at an
election meeting at Uluberia here.
Mamata left NDA because of the Tehelka tapes, only to join the
Congress, whose leaders had at least 20 corruption cases against
them, Swaraj said.
"The election results will prove how wrong her decision was to
align with the Congress," she claimed.
Banerjee, she said, had quit the Vajpayee Ministry on "flimsy"
grounds, even though she had been given the honour being the
first woman Railway Minister, the Minister said.
The West Bengal Government has failed in all departments and has
done precious little in providing education and employment to the
people of the State, Swaraj said.
