Deendar Anjuman office sealed

HYDERABAD, MAY. 7. The city police have sealed the office of the Deendar Anjuman, following the ban imposed on it by the Central and State Governments for its alleged links with Pakistan and its role in organising bomb blasts in the country.

The police led by the West Zone DCP, Mr. Umesh Sharaff went to the Deendar Anjuman office in Asifnagar here and sealed the premises. Till evening, the police were busy in preparing the panchanamas according to procedure and no official statement was issued in this regard.

It was stated that the police were verifying the records of the outfit and were trying to find out whether it had funds in any banks. In such an event the bank accounts would also be frozen.

The police teams led by the Joint Commissioner of Police, Mr. S.R. Tewari, began at 01.30 a.m. and went on till 3.30 p.m. As the seizure procedures were continuing, one Mr. Ahmed, believed to be the treasurer of the Deendaar Anjuman, arrived and informed the police that the organisation president had issued a message asking all the members to abide by the Government orders, according to a press release issued by the city police late in the evening.

The message shown to the police said that the members should be peaceful and should not resort to any quarrels. The president made it binding on the members that they should approach the courts to get any relief. During the panchanama, over 50 persons gathered there but did not prevent the police. They had assured the police that they would take permission from the Commissioner of Police, if they were to take up any activity in future, the press release added.

Earlier, the police had served noticed on Moulana Mohammed Jaffar Siddique (60) and vice-president, Siddique Ali Mallanna, both residents of Bangalore.
