Britain hails Indo-U.S. talks
KOHIMA, MAY 12. Britain has welcomed the high-level talks between
India and the U.S. on issues, including the Bush administration's
initiative on reduction of nuclear arms. ``We welcome the talks
between India and the U.S. and hope, all friends and allies of
Washington will endorse the latter's initiative,'' said Britain's
High Commissioner to India, Mr. Rob Young.
The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Mr. Richard Armitage, who is
now in India has been sent by the U.S. President, Mr. George W
Bush, as his special emissary as part of consultations with
``friends and allies'' on Mr. Bush's announcement on the National
Missile Defence (NMD).
