Pitch in, Shabir tells Musharraf
SRINAGAR, MAY 19. In a significant development, the president of
the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Mr. Shabir Ahmad
Shah, today wrote to the Pakistan Chief Executive, Gen. Pervez
Musharraf, urging Islamabad to come forward and contribute
towards the restoration of peace and stability in the
subcontinent.
All the three parties to the Kashmir issue - India, Pakistan and
the people of Jammu and Kashmir - should come forward and
contribute to the restoration of peace and stability in the
region as ``bottlenecks'' had been removed, he told PTI.
Asked what were the bottlenecks that had been removed, he said,
``New Delhi no longer considers the Kashmir issue a law and order
problem but a dispute.'' The letter would be delivered to the
Pakistani envoy, Mr. Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, in New Delhi tomorrow.
