The week ahead

THE Sun enters Gemini on Monday, joining Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn - already in the sign of the Twins. The New Moon in Gemini on Wednesday and Thursday will intensify the influence of Gemini energy. The line-up of five celestial bodies in Gemini will heighten issues of duality: male/female, dark/light and spirit/matter. Concentrate on the dichotomies within yourself and see if you can live in the centre of the conflict rather than in one of the extremes. This is a time of planetary healing of radical positions. Saturn conjuncts the Sun on Friday, which will require that you take a concrete step toward making a lasting reconciliation between opposite urges within your own personality.

Queries Answered

Malefic Mars and Rahu occupy the 6th house from Lagna (Mithuna). Will the native be a chronic patient or will these planets safeguard his health to ensure a disease-free life?

- R. Venkataraman, Bangalore

THERE is no such thing as a disease-free life. For Mithuna Lagna, Mars in the 6th is in his own sign of Vrischika. As per certain texts, Rahu is said to be in debilitation in Vrischika. Mars may be helpful, especially when his Maha Dasa operates. However, for cure from diseases and good health and longevity, the placements of Lagna, Lagna Lord, the Moon, and the Sun all need to be taken into consideration. How the 8th Lord is situated, what is the strength of Ayush Karaka, and how the succession of Maha Dasas and Bhukthi are set to rule along with Gochara influences - all these questions are important.
