Time for paying property tax extended
By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE, MAY 31. The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has
extended the deadline to pay property tax through the Self-
Assessment Scheme till June 8. The scheme was re-introduced for
two months from April 1 this year.
Considering the good response from property owners, a decision to
extend the scheme for another eight days was taken on Wednesday
night.
The Mahanagara Palike has recorded the highest collection under
the scheme as on May 30 with Rs.10 crores. Hence, the Mahanagara
Palike has given one more chance to the property owners to pay
their taxes without late fee till June 8.
The Mahanagara Palike, which has a target of mobilising over
Rs.200 crores property tax this year, has collected Rs.62 crores
in the last two months (from April 1 to May 30). It expects to
net another Rs.15 crores by June 8.
The property tax collection in both Phase I and Phase II last
year was around Rs.131 crores as against the target of Rs.175
crores.
