Laloo appears in court
PATNA, MAY 31. The RJD chief, Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav, today
appeared before the court of designated CBI judge, S. K. Mishra,
in a disproportionate assets case, an offshoot of fodder scam.
The disproportionate assets case charges Mr. Laloo Prasad with
having accummulated wealth worth over Rs. 47 lakh
disproportionate to his known sources of income.
His counsel, Mr. Chitranjan Sinha, told PTI that the special
public prosecutor for CBI, Mr. I. R. Ansari, in a petition told
the court that the agency would produce 33 more witnesses before
the court for examination to substantiate the allegations
levelled against the former Chief Minister.
Mr. Sinha said it would not examine 27 of the 137 prosecution
witnesses shown by the CBI in its chargesheet filed against Mr.
Laloo Prasad and the Chief Minister, Mrs. Rabri Devi. Examination
of 105 witnesses had already been completed in the court. Both
Mr. Laloo Prasad and Mrs. Rabri Devi have been granted bail in
the case.
