By Our Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD, JUNE 2. The district police have recovered two arms dump belonging to the banned People's War Group (PWG) in Bheemgal and Kamareddy circle limits during the last 24 hours.

The Superintendent of Police, Dr. Ravi Shankar Ayyanar, at a press conference on Saturday evening, said the district police had received reliable information that the PWG Bheemgal area local guerrilla squad, under the leadership of DCM Swamy, had taken shelter in the Konasamundar forest area. The police party, while combing the forest, came under fire from the naxals taking shelter on a hillock. The naxals were warned to surrender but continued to fire forcing the police to return the fire.

An exchange of fire continued between the police and naxals for about 20 minutes. The naxals managed to escape from the scene. After the firing stopped, the police searched the area and recovered a DBBL gun, a country made tapancha, 18 live cartridges, a live grenade, 25 electrical detonators, wire bundle, a kit bag with party literature and a black tarpaulin sheet.

In another incident, the police, while conducting combing operation in the Thirmanpalli forest area under Sadashivnagar mandal, found the dump of the PWG Kamareddy area and recovered 12.38 revolver rounds, 25 electrical detonators, a piece each of battery box, photo flash camera, coupling bomb, 12 bore weapon cleaning rod, four disposable syringes, IV set, magazine pouch and party literature.

The SP said in the last two months, the naxals had committed 11 murders of innocent villagers, most of them Lambadas. Naxals had lost sympathy of people and were behaving in a barbaric manner, he said, adding that the naxals should surrender and lead normal life.
