Collector invited to attend seminar on IT at Bangkok

THANJAVUR, JUNE 2. The United Nations Asia and Pacific Centre for
Transfer of Technology has invited Mr. C. Uma Shankar, Tiruvarur
district Collector, to participate in the world seminar and
exhibition on Information Technology to be held at Bangkok from
June 11 to 14.
After assessing the computerisation works in the district, the
world agency has extended the invitation.
The seminar and exhibition is sponsored jointly by the World
Bank, Asian Development Bank and Economic and Social Commission
on Asia and Pacific.
Digital Dividends, famous computer firm, has created a website on
Tiruvarur district for its service to common man through
information technology.
Mr. Uma Shankar said if he got the Government permission, he
would visit Bangkok on June 11. Tiruvarur district has been
declared pilot-e-district for E-governance by the Government and
Mr. Uma Shankar has proved that online administration was
possible by conducting online grievances redressal camp in taluk
offices and producing software for various Government schemes.
