Man held in mahant attack case

LUCKNOW, JUNE 8. The Uttar Pradesh police claimed to have solved the case relating to the attack on Mahant Nritya Gopal Das in Ayodhya on May 28 with the arrest of the main accused today.

The State Principal Secretary (Home), Mr. Naresh Dayal, said that Umesh Mishra, arrested in Basti in connection with a contract killing, confessed to his involvement in the bomb attack on the mahant.

He also confessed that he was hired by Deo Ramdas Vedanti, arch rival of the mahant, to eliminate the latter for a sum of Rs 1.25 lakhs.
