By Our Special Correspondent
BANGALORE, JUNE 8. ITI Ltd., Bangalore, has won a major contract
from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in the face of tenders
from leading satellite companies in India and overseas.
The project involves setting up a satellite-based countrywide
telecom network consisting of both static and mobile stations,
with a captive hub in Delhi. The network operates in C-band with
advanced encryption for transmission of video, data and voice.
ITI plans to execute this project much ahead of its scheduled
completion of 24 months. ITI will be the systems integrator for
the project valued at Rs. 63 crores. While the public sector
company will manufacture the main sub-systems at its
manufacturing locations, a few others will be sourced from
international markets.
