Daewoo launches new cars in Bangalore

BANGALORE, JUNE 8. Daewoo Motors India Ltd, today launched three
new models of its cars in Bangalore and gave a sneak preview of
its forthcoming "Tacuma" model.
Targetted at the mid-size segment, Lanos II has a 1.5 lSOHC
engine and will be priced between Rs. 7 and Rs. 8 lakhs. It has
been reportedly ranked second among mid-size cars in the U.S.
Performance and riding comfort are its highlights.
The "Powernomics" Nubira II will be launched in two variants--
the 1.6l and 2.0l DOHC engine, and will blend the best of a
sporty style and a luxury car feel. The Nubira will be priced
between Rs. 9 and Rs. 10 lakhs for the Indian market. Daewoo's
offering in the luxury segment is the big Magnus, designed in
Italy, with a powerful 2.0l engine. It will be priced between Rs
13 and Rs. 15 lakhs. All these models will be available in India
before the year-end.
Besides these models, Daewoo gave a sneak preview of its Tacuma,
a multi-purpose vehicle. Tacuma will have a high-performance 2.0l
engine built on a passenger car platform as distinct from a jeep.
The Daewoo Matiz won the ``Car of The Year'' award earlier this
year in Turin, Italy. Last year, Top Gear magazine of the U.S.
named Matiz the ``Best Value Car''.
