By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, JUNE 8. Despite adding 13 counters to last year's 32, complaints of slow distribution of asthma fish medicine by the Bathini Goud family and its volunteers, because of improper control, and inadequate supply of water to the those standing in the long queues were aired by the patients at the venue, Exhibition Grounds on Friday. The Minister for Fisheries, Mr. Narasimha Rao, inaugurated administration of the medicine around 8.30 am.

For the first time, a centre to distribute the fish medicine was opened at the City Police Control Room to cater to the needs of judges and senior Government officials. Among those who visited the centre was the wife of Mr. Sharad Yadav, Union Minister for Civil Aviation.

The Chief Minister, Mr.N.Chandrababu Naidu, who finally made it to the Exhibition Grounds around 1.50 pm, himself heard complaints from women about the slow distribution of the medicine and lack of water.

Mr. Naidu brought them to the notice of the City Police Commissioner, Mr.P.Ramulu, and asked the police to deploy more women constables. The Chief Minister was heard saying on the mike "if adequate water is available why it is not being given to the needy?."

He enquired from people standing in the queues what difficulties or problems they were facing so that he could bring them to the notice of the Goud family and the volunteers for speedier distribution of the medicine.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister complimented the Goud family for its gesture in offering the medicine to the suffering millions without a profit motive. Besides allotting five acres land to the family, the Government was fully cooperating with the Gouds so that more people could be given the wonder medicine the popularity of which had reached different corners of the globe. People in Switzerland had made enquiries about the medicine when he attended the Davos summit last year.

The expected arrival of the Chief Minister for which the distribution of the medicine was stopped, so that he could himself administer it, also added to the delay. Mr.Naidu reached the ground accompanied by the DGP, Mr.H.J.Dora, and the IGP (Intelligence), Mr.Shiv Shankar.

He was received by the Minister for Fisheries, the Principal Secretary, Mr.D.Muralikrishna, and the Commissioner, Mr.D.S.Murty, and senior department and police officials.

Earlier, Mr. T.Devender Goud, Minister for Home and president of the Exhibition Society, visited the ground before noon and enquired about the arrangements made for the patients.
