Accused stabbed in judge's chamber
NAGPUR, JUNE 15. In a daring attack, four persons chased a murder
case accused and stabbed him in a judge's chamber around noon
today causing panic in the vicinity of the district court
premises.
Mr. Anil Pawnipagar, an accused in the murder of criminal Som
Kumar last year, appeared in the court this morning for the
hearing. He was talking to his lawyer after emerging out of the
court when he saw four persons approaching him. Apprehending an
attack, he ran and bolted himself in the chamber of a judge. The
four broke open the door and attacked him with sharp weapons,
causing panic in the court premises. Thinking that Mr. Pawnipagar
was dead, the assailants fled the scene of the crime.
Senior police officials rushed to the court premises and the
victim was removed to the Mayo Hospital, where he was stated to
be out of danger.
