Mettur also to supply water for Chennai

ERODE, JUNE 15. As per instructions of the Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalithaa, drinking water would be sent to Chennai from Mettur.

Mr. Aupura Varma, Executive Director, Chennai Metrowater, last night held discussions with Mr. N. Dhananjayan, Salem Collector, on supply of water from Mettur. He also held talks with the TWAD officials.

According to the Salem Collector, daily 17.50 lakh litres of cauvery water would be sent by rail. After consulting the railway authorities, the date of the first despatch would be announced.

From Erode daily 12.50 lakh litres of raw water would be sent to Chennai by 50 wagons. The first consignment would be despatched on June 20.
