Evicted encroachers stage road roko

CHENNAI, JUNE 15. Traffic along the arterial Velachery-Tambaram
Road was disrupted for nearly an hour on Friday when a group of
persons staged a flash road roko near Gowrivakkam protesting
their eviction from the Sembakkam lake bed.
Police said about 50 persons including 20 women squatted on the
road when the civic authorities attempted to evict them from the
Sembakkam lake bed. The men were picked up by the police and
later let off on bail. About 25 huts were removed from the lake
bed area.
