First anniversary of cancer institute tomorrow
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, JUNE 19. The Indo-American Cancer Institute and
Research Centre (IACIRC) here will be celebrating its first
anniversary on June 22.
Inaugurated last year by the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Bihari
Vajpayee, the institute runs on the principle of `no profit no
loss'. It has treated 6,000 patients, performed 600 surgeries and
650 radiation therapies in the last one year.
Promoted by the Smt. Nandamuri Basava Taraka Rama Rao Memorial
Cancer Foundation and the American Telugu Women's Organisation
(ATWO), the institute has been promoting awareness about the
disease in rural areas and urban slums.
The Institute had plans to further equip itself with modern
technologies of detection and cure, Dr. Kodela Siva Prasada Rao,
Managing Trustee, said at a press conference here on Tuesday.
