A.P. suspends bus services to T.N.

HYDERABAD, JULY 1. The Andhra Pradesh Government has suspended bus services to Tamil Nadu as a precautionary measure in view of the developments in the neighbouring State following the arrest of the DMK president, Mr. M. Karunanidhi, and two Union Ministers.

``The decision was taken as a precautionary measure following reports that the buses from the State might come under attack by protesters,'' the executive director (operations) of the AP Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), Mr. Gnaneshwer told PTI.

The Corporation runs over 100 buses every day to Tamil Nadu, majority of them originating from Tirupati. Asked how long the bus services would stand suspended, he said ``it depends on the ground situation there. This is only a temporary measure and all services will be resumed once the situation improves''.
