BDR chief transferred

DHAKA, JULY 1. Top officials and the chief of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) have been transferred ahead of the Indo-Bangla Joint Boundary Working Group meeting beginning here tomorrow to sort out the issue of border demarcation and related matters.

Maj. Gen. Fazlur Rahman and two other top officials of the BDR have been transferred, media reports said today. A BDR official said Maj. Gen. Fazlur Rahman, his deputy, Brig. Gen. Abdus Salam Chowdhury and the director of operations, Col. Rafiqur Rahman, were transferred on Friday.
