TN: Mani welcomes Centre's decision

By Our Staff Reporter

ALAPPUZHA, JULY 1. The Minister for Law and Revenue, Mr. K.M. Mani, has welcomed the decision of the Union Government to recommend recalling the Tamil Nadu Governor, Ms. Fathima Beevi. Mr. Mani said the people of Kerala would support all the decisions taken by the Union Government against the Tamil Nadu Government. He was speaking to presspersons after inaugurating the KC M) Alappuzha district conference.

SC intervention urged

Our Staff Reporter from Thrissur writes: In a letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the secretary of the Public Interest Forum, Mr. V.K. Venkitachalam, said that the manner in which the 78-year-old Mr. Karunanidhi was manhandled and thrown into a van which was driven from one place to another without ensuring lifesaving supports during the midnight hours were clear proof of dereliction duty on the part of the law and order Ministry headed by Ms. Jayalalithaa.

Moreover, the arrest of the Union Ministers without getting the statutory permission from the office of the President of India also amounts to violation of the law of the country. It is also a proof of violation of the oath of office and secrecy taken by Ms. Jayalalithaa as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, the letter said.
