Revenue offices to be networked

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JULY 2. The district administration is taking up a project to link all the Revenue offices through a computer network, the District Collector, Mr. K. R. Jyothilal, announced here today. He was addressing a meeting of officials to discuss means to improve revenue administration.

Mr. Jyothilal said the first phase of the project would involve networking taluk offices to the Collectorate. In the second phase, village offices would be linked to taluk offices. This will speed up file and information transaction, he said.

The Collector urged officials to expedite revenue recovery procedures. All cases without judicial intervention are to be cleared in one month. Officials have also been instructed to intensify tax recovery.

Mr. Jyothilal directed officials to implement Government directives on a priority basis. Preparation of a disaster management plan, setting up of a public grievance redressal cell, taluk sabha and grama sabha, file workshop, anti-corruption people's committees and lightning inspection of village offices are the other major issues which were discussed at the meeting.

Mr. Jyothilal also called for improving the utilisation of Central funds for landless tenants and steps to acquire land without ownership. He announced that a Pattaya Mela would be organised in August or September.

The Deputy Collectors, Ms. S. Lalithambika, Mr. Ganesan and Mr. B. R. Ravindran Nair, and taluk and village level officials participated in the meeting.
